Data collection is a key component to successful behavior intervention. ABC Data Collection
ABC data collection is a key component in developing function-based behavior plans. By observing what happens before the behavior (the antecedent) and what happens immediately after the behavior (the consequence), we can begin to evaluate patterns of behavior. These patterns show us why a student is engaging in a behavior (the function) and provide us insight on the best matched interventions to support a student's growth. Baseline Data and Progress Monitoring
Baseline data provides a measurement of behavior before intervention occurs. This type of data is important because it allows teams to evaluate the progress of the plan. Are the interventions working as intended? A comparison of baseline data to intervention data is the clearest way to determine this.

Implementation Fidelity Data
The best designed plans will be not be successful if they are not implemented corrected. Implementation fidelity data allows a team to determine if all interventions are in place, occuring at the intended frequency, and executed with accuracy. A simple checklist can prevent implementation drift and identify needs for additional resources, more staff training, or additional brainstorming.
